Adventure Rider Situational Trail Training/Fundraising Tour Aug 22nd– 27th
Directly Following Touratech Dirt Daze – Aug. 18th – 21st HOW DIRTY for GOOD TRAINING WORKS
SheADV is partnering with the Women’s Motorcyclist Foundation to host DIRTY for GOOD 2021, Situational trail training venue along 450 miles of North East Backcountry Discovery Route (NEBDR)
Riders need to come to DIRTY for GOOD 2021 (DFG) having had recent, formal dual sport/adventure rider training and be proficient with Level 2 skills, and readiness to learn Level 3 skills.
SEE TERRAIN & SKILLS DOCUMENT: https://womensmotorcyclistfoundation.org/dirtyforgood-2021-details/
Having this training, directly before putting it to use out on the trail is the best-case scenario. This formal training will be offered by lead instructor Shal Wilson of Women Ride Moto Adventures at Touratech DirtDaze (East) directly before DIRTY for GOOD commences from the same location. Plus, DIRTY for GOOD participants will receive a discounted price for Level 1 and 2 Women’s only classes on August 18th and 19th or co-ed classes on August 20th and 21st. Shal Wilson is also the lead instructor for DIRTY for GOOD!
Specifically, DFG begins in Woodsville, NH, then takes in Sections 5 and 4 of the NEBDR in Vermont before traveling down into Section 3 in Massachusetts. The days average out to 90 miles per day. That may not sound like a lot of riding. However, DFG is a rider training program. This gives us the opportunity to ride some terrain more than once to improve our riding proficiencies.
The goal is for each rider to grow her confidence and skills, without anyone getting in over her head. Therefore, if a rider comes across topography, she feels she is not able to ride safely, a ride guide will take her bike through that gnarly section.
The beauty and the value of all Backcountry Discovery Routes is that they offer a great combination and choice in difficulty levels. There are go-around sections designated for “Experts Only.” Then there are laid back scenic dirt and gravel roads to give us mental/physical breaks.
In between are the sections DIRTY for GOOD will use for situational trail training, Levels 2 and 3 with occasional short spurts of Level 4 terrain. Levels 2, 3 and 4 do involve standing up on our pegs. This reality is a vote for each of us to be on the RIGHT BIKE for our present skill levels, physical fitness, and stamina.
DIRTY for GOOD days start with a riders’ meeting describing the terrain for the day. Some will choose to take on all of the Class IV roads for the day. Others may find that a couple of Situational Trail Training sections per day is enough for them. Riders’ needs will be accommodated by having a ride guide available for those who want/need a more leisurely pace for part of their day. Each rider is encouraged to maximize her training opportunities without riding over her skill and stamina limits.
DIRTY for GOOD is deliberately designed to be affordable in exchange for participants raising a minimum of $250 on behalf of Homeless Female Veterans with Kids through Final Salute,

THE QUESTION OFTEN ASKED:
“Can guys sign up?” DIRTY for GOOD is female focused. DFG venues do allow guys to join if they are participating in support of a female registrant. Generally, this leads to about 20% representation of guys joining their female partners, wives, daughters, or best friends. The guys agree to all protocols, fundraising efforts and participate fully in Situational Trail Training.
DFG venues have three primary goals: Grow the ranks of off-road riding women and women off-road riding instructors, provide opportunities for fun life-long learning, use our passion towards the greater good!
