Thinking of Dr. King today, and remembering our protests of this summer. The murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor prompted Black Girls Ride into action. Riders from all over the country mounted up to meet our sisters and brothers in DC for the anniversary of the March on Washington. Four of rode out from different parts of California to meet up for this journey. Along this ride, we visited The Loraine Motel, the site of Dr. Martin Luther King’s assassination. It was a sobering moment and brought to mind the tremendous struggle and achievements of Dr. King’s fight and the Civil Rights Movement. Because of Dr. King and all who fought, we are able to ride free across America. As we stopped at Black Lives Matter Plaza, we were reminded of how far we have to go, and how far those who oppose racial harmony will go to cut us down. Our fight for freedom is an unending journey. We must continue to move forward, so our future leaders don’t have to re-fight battles we’ve already won. We remain committed. The ride continues…
