My riding inspiration is Bessie Stringfield, she was the first African American female to ride her motorcycle across the US solo during WWII. She is in the Motorcycle Hall of Fame.

I was inspired to ride by all the women who I would see riding on the street or on the freeway I could not be happier

I was born with this inspiration. I wanted to ride a motorcycle since I was 3 years old and saw the boys outside on the mini bikes. My mother would never allow any of four girls to participate so I never learned as a kid. By 23 I was married and divorced with 2 children and life got real. Thirty three left no money or resources on where or how to get behind the handlebars. By forty the dream was fading but it would vividly return every time I heard a motorcycle and that longing would return. At 48 I saw this badazz sister with dreadlocks pouring from underneath her helmet, her bike was chromed out and she owned the road!!! Her bike!!!! and the World around her. Two years later I retired, strolled in to the HD dealer and signed up for the riding academy. The rest is history. I have two granddaughters 12 and 9 and you can believe GiGi will make sure they ride.

I inspire myself to ride! I’ve always loved motorcycles, but never had the courage to ride. 2 years ago I finally got up the nerve to take a riding course, and I’ve never looked back!

My husband, Darrick Scott, inspired me to ride. He had rode for years and the patience he exhibits, along with the safety, in teaching me had kept me motivated. He is a passionate rider and I’ve seen this through his leadership as president of his club and those he’s taken under his wing.

I was initially inspired as a child by my Uncle Greg (Bro Al) & the Wild Bunch MC out of Compton, CA. I thought it was so cool to see them on their motorcycles. But I always wondered why none of the women rode their own. Later I joined the Marine Corps. In 1985, I requested to attend the Rider Safety Course on MCAS El Toro in Orange County. My female Gunnery Sergeant Laura Sanders said in response to my request, “Ladies don’t ride motorcycles.” I knew then that one day I would prove her wrong. In 2006, I purchased my first motorcycle, a 1999 HD Sportster 883. Now five Harley’s and thousands of cross country miles later, I have done just that…Proved her wrong! I’ve had the disire to ride from the age of 13. Forty years later Children grown living their lives all is well. 2012 I purchases my first bike a CBR 250. Last year I rode my first “International Female Ride Day Event”. The burn got real after that. I now ride a Gsxr 600 in my comfort zone and I still giggle every time I see my bike.

My husband inspires me to ride. He’s an Army veteran SURVIVING with PTSD. He sets goals and works hard to accomplish them; never giving up when things become difficult and never doubting or second guessing himself. Learning to ride a motorcycle can be and has at times been challenging for me, but watching him encourages me to keep pushing and never give up when I get overwhelmed. I ride because of him.

My Grandfather inspired me to ride every since I was 14 years old. He was one of the 1st group of Black Motorcycle Riders for LAPD. I was a Prissy Tom girl and copied everything he did. He taught me safety 1st and always. He also told me “trying to look cute can get you killed” and that being a female Rider is Sexy all by itself!!!
