Our 5th Annual Beautiful Bikers Conference and Awards took place February 2 – 4, 2018 in Dallas, Texas, at the Crowne Plaza Downtown Dallas. Presented by Indian Motorcycle, Polaris Slingshot and Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys, the Beautiful Bikers Conference brought women from all over the United States show up for a weekend of motorsports themed fun! We kicked the weekend off on Thursday February 1st, with the Beautiful Bikers Bike Nite hosted by K-Barbie and DJ Thunder, at White Diamonds, a local hang out for the Dallas MC set. It was great to meet lady riders from Dallas and the surrounding areas, who all came out to fellowship with us, especially those who made the journey from both the east and west coast on ground! On Friday, February 2nd, we held our annual Beautiful Bikers Photoshoot, and got some amazing shots at the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge.
Later that night, our Friday Night Meet and Greet had the feel of a family reunion, with riders sharing stories, and some meeting face to face for the first time, after following each other on social media.
This was our first year out of California, and we must give special thanks to the women of 2Deep WMC for all of their help as our local Dallas hosts! We couldn’t have done this without them! Join them for their annual weekend, February 16 & 17 in Dallas, Texas. Get the full details: https://www.facebook.com/twodeep.rc
On Saturday, February 3rd, we held the Beautiful Bikers Conference Breakout Sessions. This year’s panel featured some of the most dynamic women in motorsports, including Vicki Gray, Mary “K-Barbie” Rose-Smith, Peggy Llewellyn, Sarah “SeCCRet” Moreau, Jenn “Lil Tigger” Brewington, Joanne Dunn, Alisa Clickenger, Sunshine Rogers, Sylvia Selanius, Moira Zinn, with host Porsche Taylor. It was great to finally meet Vicki Gray of MOTORESS and Racing Pioneer Peggy Llewellyn in person! Check out our speaker bios at beautifulbikers.com. We’re happy that the conference continues to be a safe space, where riders can ask questions without fear of ridicule and judgement, and share their own knowledge with the group. Sunshine and K-Barbie covered “Budgeting for your long distance ride”, SeCCRet, Alisa and Sylvia covered “Preparing to ride abroad”, Joanne and Moira covered “Getting on track with track days”, and all of our panelists joined in on our “Careers in motorsports” panel. Each of our speakers brought concise, well thought out presentations, full of information to share with our riders.
After our lunch break, we continued with our Ride The Runway Fashion Show, designed to showcase all types of riding gear, in the best fit for women. This year’s show was hosted by Joanne Dunn, the women’s apparel specialist for Revzilla.com. Joanne is passionate about motorcycle gear and takes pride in finding proper fitting riding gear for women of all shapes and sizes. Reach out to Joanne with your gear questions via her blog, gearchic.com. Special thanks to Olympia Moto Sports, Worse For Wear Denim, Scorpion USA, Fieldsheer, Indian Motorcycle, Motostyles Online, BMW Motorrad, Moto Liberty, AXIX GP, MotoChic, and Kufflet for providing gear for the fashion show and raffle giveaways for our guests.
Later that evening, the we held the Beautiful Biker Awards Banquet, in honor of women who share a passion for motorcycling and serve as ambassadors for motorsports. It’s the first and only awards banquet of it’s kind, featuring a Lifetime Achievement Award (Peggy Llewellyn), the Ground Pounders Award (Sunshine Rogers), the Beautiful Bikers Club Award (Street Angels MC of Atlanta, GA), the Sisters in Service Award (Women of Klutch N Khrome of Chicago, IL), the Sports Rider of the Year Award (Erin Sills), and the Renaissance Rider Award (Jenn “Lil Tigger” Brewington). We are proud to add these women to the Beautiful Bikers Legacy. Check out our event program below to learn more about the honorees. We also want to recognize our ground pounders, Dawn “White Chocolate” Phillips and her husband, who rode in from Maryland, Doc Jay and Storm of Other Side of Darkness MC, riding from Arizona, Becky Tarts, who rode from Southern California, and Jenn “Lil Tigger” Brewington, who battled a cold and fever to ride from Florida! We had quite a few of us from the “Have Iron, Will Travel” Facebook Group in attendance, as well!
On Sunday, we took an opportunity to visit the International Motorcycle Show at the Dallas Convention Center, where we caught up with the Women’s Coalition of Motorcyclists at their booth. The WCM has a couple of great scholarship opportunities available for women who want to learn advance rider techniques! Visit their site for more info: http://wcm2020.org. As always, the show has some gorgeous custom bikes, and it’s always nice to see the new models up close. We’re excited about the new Indian Motorcycle Big Bore 116 Kit for the Indian Chieftain, the new Indian Scout line-up and the new Polaris Slingshot Grand Touring LE! Be sure to enter to schedule your test rides and enter to win your own Indian Chieftain and Polaris Slingshot! Visit indianmotorcycle.com and polarisslingshot.com to enter to win today! Dallas was a great host city for the Beautiful Bikers Conference and Awards, and we’ll be back next year!
