Let’s take a look at the Vemar Storm Helmet, a great gift idea for your favorite rider. When Motonation asked me to review the Vemar Storm, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I hadn’t heard of the Vemar brand, but the $99 price point had my attention. Engineered in Italy, and Manufactured in China, the Vemar Storm delivers a strong helmet at an amazing price.
Style: The Vemar Storm is available in Gloss Black, Matte Black, Gloss White. I chose the Matte Black and the helmet looks great. The Matte Black option has a great modern shape and style. Visually, the grey vents on the matte black provide a good color contrast. For those who are into graphics, they offer a Travel Green, Travel Blue and Travel Red. Add $20 for the graphic option.
Fit: The Vemar Storm is very light and comfortable. The size medium felt snug, but not too tight. The padded chin strap and micro adjustable closure buckle make it easy to snap it on. Vemar uses 2 shells to make the five sizes offered (S – 2XL). The round shell shape offers a good fit from front to back and ear to ear. The cheek pads and liner provide great cushion and felt great against the skin. The liner has been manufactured from anti bacterial technical fiber to help fight odor, fungus and bacteria.
Ride: On the road, the Vemar Storm was a good basic performer. I love the anti fog coated, anti scratch shield. This worked great during early my morning rides, during a slight chill. The adjustable full ventilation system provides four intake vents on the top and front of the exterior shell and two large exhaust vents in the rear. These vents provide great air circulation. I wanted the visor to be able to open just a bit more, but otherwise, it performed well. The Vemar Storm was also surprisingly quiet for a helmet of this value.
Overall: The Storm proved to be a great low to mid priced helmet. For the $99 price, you get a good, solid helmet that works well as a daily performer.
